Yum! Brands CEO honored for fight against hunger

WASHINGTON D.C. (WAVE) - The CEO of Louisville based Yum! Brands was honored for his work to fight global hunger.

Wednesday night, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton honored David Novak and Singer Christina Aguilera, a global ambassador for Yum! Brands World Hunger Relief,a t the United Nations World Food Programme in Washington D.C.

Both were given the organization's top humanitarian award for the company's World Hunger Relief Effort.

Since 2007, more than 460 million meals have been served to starving women and children along with $115 million raised for the cause with Novak leading the way.

Clinton referenced Aguilera's hosting role on NBC's "The Voice" before presenting them with their honor, "If I could sing Christina, I would want to be on your team. But since I can't, I'm glad you're on this team."

Past recipients of this prestigious award include Bill Gates, Howard Buffett and Clinton herself.
