A volunteer took to the lake in a kayak to collect debris.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Residents in south Louisville rolled up their sleeves Saturday morning to help cleanup McNeely Lake Park.
The park, just off Preston Highway, is one of the largest in the Metro park systems and features a 46 acre fishing lake. The Korean War Memorial is also at the park.
Volunteers worked to collect debris and trim overgrown plants.
"Fortunately the amount of trash we get every year is starting to become less and less. It's more of a daily littering stuff that collect as opposed to the first year where we were pulling boats, car hoods and other stuff out of the water," said James Peden, Councilman District 23.
Volunteers did not go hungry. Bootleg BBQ provided a free lunch.
