BULLITT COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - State leaders want students in Bullitt County to "Close the Deal" and start thinking about what is next for them.

The state pilot program aims to challenge high school seniors to pursue additional education after they graduate.

The "Close the Deal" initiative plants the seed for students who are not thinking about higher education.

Tuesday, students learned how to apply for admission and financial aid.

Susan Bibelhauser with Bullitt County Public Schools  said there are options for students, "We have some colleges from Tennessee, from Indiana, and from Kentucky. We also have some businesses, some area businesses here who are here to talk to the kids who want to take a different track and go straight into the workforce."

Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson was at Tuesday's ceremony.

He helped start "Close the Deal" in Louisville when he was mayor.

Since then, more than 5,000 kids have benefited from the program.
