LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has released the identity of a man shot and killed early Wednesday morning in an Okolona home.

Gerald Jackson, 33, was pronounced dead at approximately 3:45 a.m. Louisville Metro Police have not released a motive or a description of the suspected shooter. "We really aren't sure if we're looking for one or more people," LMPD Spokesperson Alicia Smiley said.

Officers were called to the 6500 block of Larry Lane around 3:30 a.m. on a report of a shooting. Smiley said Jackson was not home alone. "His girlfriend was inside the residence along with four children all under the age of 12. Fortunately, none of them were injured."

According to neighbors, members of the victim's family said he was shot four times near a bathroom and that the shooter may have crawled in through a window.

Police said it was not a domestic violence case and the girlfriend was not being considered a suspect.

As part of their investigation, police towed two Dodge Durango SUVs from the scene. Investigators have not said what connection the vehicles may have had to the murder.

Neighbors describe the young family as kind and quiet. "They seemed like a very ordinary family. I never saw anything out of the ordinary," Don Strong said.

Vicky Faith said she would often see the children riding bicycles and playing. "I've never seen any kind of disturbance around there," she said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the LMPD crime tip Line at 574-LMPD (5673). All calls to the crime tip line are anonymous.
