Sheriff's office investigating toddler death

OTISCO, IN (WAVE) – Officials are investigating after an 18-month-old boy died.

According to Major Chuck Adams with the Clark County Sheriff's Office, a call was made to 911 Wednesday concerning an unresponsive child on Leon-Prall Road in a rural area of the county.

Adams said at first, there were reports that the child was attacked by a dog, but when they got there, they discovered that wasn't the case.

Adams said they believe the boy was playing on a gravel road when he fell and hit his head.

The family had adopted the child when he was 3 months old.

Officials are still investigating the child's death. Adams said at this time no foul play is suspected but, they hope to have more answers by Thursday afternoon.

The name of the child has not been released.
