DALLAS, TX (KXAS) - A Texas mother who beat her toddler and glued the child's hands to a wall was sentenced to 99 years in prison on Friday.

Elizabeth Escalona's family sobbed in the courtroom as the judge delivered the sentence.

Escalona, 23, faced probation to life in prison after pleading guilty back in July to felony injury to a child.

Prosecutors had sought 45 years behind bars.

Officials said Escalona attacked  Jocelyn Cedillo, 2, in September 2011 because of problems with potty training.

Jocelyn suffered bleeding in her brain and was in a coma for couple of days.
