LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police are looking for a suspect or suspects after a man is found badly beaten late Saturday night.

"It's a pretty gruesome situation," said family spokesperson Christopher 2X. He says the beating victim's prognosis isn't good.

"He was beaten very, very severely. There's a lot of swelling and a lot of cuts. He's not responding at all. The life support is really what's keeping him alive," he said.

Sunday night, police remained at the scene, looking for clues and hoping to shed light on who's responsible.

Few details are available. The victim was found beaten and left die near a home in the 2500 block of West Main Street in the city's west end late Saturday night. His family wishes that his name not be released, for fear of what the suspect - or suspects - could do next.

"He's just clinging on, barely," Christopher 2X said.

While the victim is breathing on his own, a difficult decision is ahead. The family -- still dealing with the news -- will now have to decide whether to keep their loved on life support.

"They have to make that decision about either leaving that person on life support, but that person still doesn't have a good functioning brain to do what we do everyday," Christopher 2X said.

The family hopes anyone who may know something will come forward and talk to police.

"Hopefully they'll feel that kind of pain at some level and relate to it and the families just asking for help in any kind of way to try to get some answers," he said.
