INDIANAPOLIS (WAVE) – Indianapolis will name a new Archbishop.
According to the Vatican Insider in Rome, the Pope chose Bishop Joseph Tobin, 60.
Tobin is the current secretary of the Congregation for Religious, the Vatican body overseeing religious orders.
Originally from Detroit, Tobin served as a priest in both his hometown and in Chicago before being called to Rome in 1991.
Tobin will oversee a Catholic community of 246,000 people in the Indianapolis area once a formal announcement is made.
Tobin is expected to replace Archbishop Daniel Buechlein, who retired due to health problems.
