Over 100 animals seized from Kentucky home

OWENSBORO, KY (WAVE) – More than 100 animals have been seized from a home in what authorities are calling an animal cruelty investigation.

The animals were found at a home in Owensboro. Rats, mice, birds, snakes, and dogs were taken to the Daviess County Animal Shelter.

Animal control officers said the homeowner has bred Yorkies for decades.

Officials said the dogs have matted fur, fleas, and one older dog may need a leg removed.

"When you see things like this, it's concerning because of the conditions the animals have to live in day after day, you know. Even though they um, the dogs did have food and water, the health condition of the dogs is pretty poor," said Ashley Clark, Daviess County Animal Shelter.

No charges have been filed against the home's occupants. Clark said she would review the case to determine what charges she would fire.
