(Ascot, England- WAVE 3 NEWS)
The sensational 4-year-old colt, Frankel, capped off his brilliant racing career by winning his career finale, the Champion Stakes, at the famed Ascot Race Course in England. The victory left Frankel with a perfect record of 14 wins out of 14 starts and stamped him as one of the greatest racehorses of all time.
The colt who actually missed the break from the gate and fell behind early, won by a length and three-quarters and completed the mile and quarter in 2:10.22 over a soft turf course. Europe's reigning Horse of the Year was ridden by Tom Queally and is trained by Henry Cecil.
Frankel is named for the late Hall of Fame trainer, Bobby Frankel, who had a stellar career in the U.S. before his death in 2009.
