LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man arrested twice in 24-hours on drug-related charges is making headlines.

It all started early Tuesday morning around 2:30 a.m. along Bruce Avenue. An officer noticed DeWayne A. Kannamore, 27, driving over the center line on Palatka Road. The officer said Kannamore was even driving on the wrong side of the road at one point.

He was pulled over and arrested on charges careless driving, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of marijuana and other drug-related charges.

Kannamore apparently bonded out of jail, but would return there later that day. 20 hours later, police say his crime spree continued in a sub-division off Shorewood Drive.

"It's like Mayberry, I mean you don't have any problems," said resident Peggy Baker. She and her husband raised their two sons here. "20 years we've lived here."

What they saw late Tuesday night around 10 p.m. outside 5523 Shorewood Drive came as a jolt.

"There was one cop car, then two more came so there was three and they took him immediately and put him in handcuffs and put him in the car while he's wearing profanities out the window," she said.

Police said Kannamore had marijuana in his pocket when officers arrived. Inside the home, detectives said they found even more drug-related items inside the home including a list of clients.

Officers also found three loaded handguns, ammo and two bullet resistant vests.

"We sat out here until almost 1 a.m. watching," another neighbor said who didn't wish to give her name.

She and her husband also watched it all go down.

"I don't like it at all, no not at all," she exclaimed.

Residents in the normally quiet area said the people at this home haven't lived here long.

"Maybe three months; we don't know them, we've seen a few kids out there," Baker said.

No one answered when WAVE 3 stopped by and those living here, say it's enough to make them want to leave their homes.

"As you can see our house is for sale. So we're kind of moving on," Baker said.

Kannamore was arrested on several drug-related charges as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. That's because he has previous drug-related charges in 2003 and 2005. He is expected in court Thursday morning.

Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad has asked his men and women to wear mourning bands for a former officer shot in the line of duty.  It was more than four decades ago when Detective Bobby Branham was critically wounded.  His widow, Mary Carroll Burnett tells us, her husband had a lot of scar tissue from multiple surgeries after the 1972 shooting and those complications led to his death May 14.
