LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Thursday that the new slip ramp from eastbound Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) to KY 22 (Old Brownsboro Road) is ready to open.
During the morning and early afternoon hours Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials along with officials of Metro Public Works were checking the new traffic signal at the top of the new ramp that meets KY 22 (Brownsboro Rd.) to make sure it operates properly.
The new slip ramp will provide drivers with direct access to KY 22, which should help alleviate some of the congestion normally seen on the exit ramp to U.S. Hwy 42.
Although the ramp is scheduled to be open by Thursday afternoon, construction will continue in this area as crews install two new overhead sign truss' on eastbound I-264 between Westport Road and U.S. 42.
The contractor for the project is Gohmann Construction Inc. of Clarksville, IN. They received $1.83 million for the project.
