LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - In just two months, Christmas will be here and the season of giving is coming quickly.
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree gives back to our families that struggle through these times every year, making it possible to have Christmas.
They're a week and a half into registration for angels and they say it's already a success. "As of the end of Wednesday, we've had 3,600 applications and compared to last year in a two week period we had about 5,700 so we anticipate being on track if not a tad higher for this year as well, " said David Yarmuth with the Salvation Army.
Although, they couldn't do it without help. The Salvation Army still needs a lot of volunteers. They need people to take an angel but they also need people's time. Yarmuth said, "We need folks now with registration ending Saturday we now have to input all that information into a database so we need folks who are good at typing, if you're fast that's perfect because we need data entry folks then once that information is entered we can create the angels."
It won't be long before you see those infamous red kettle bells out collecting donations. The kickoff for that will be November 16.
If you would like to register your child, registration for angel tree officially ends Saturday. You can register 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday or 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
