In a statement, the administration said Sexton's leadership philosophies are different than those of Superintendent Dr. Andrew Melin.

Sexton is a candidate for the Jefferson County Public School Board of Education in District 7.

Starting Monday, Jeffersonville High School Assistant Principal David Milburn will take the position of Interim Principal.
