High School appointed third principal

JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – A shoplifting charge means a third principal will now lead a high school, only a few days after the their principal was reassigned.

Thursday, the school board reassigned Principal Jim Sexton from Jeffersonville High School to Clark County Middle/High School.

Monday, it was announced Assistant Principal David Milburn will not serve as interim principal due to a shoplifting charge in Louisville. 

An arrest report said Milburn took a Samsung Galaxy tablet and an iPad from a Walmart in Louisville where he was employed.

Greater Clark County Schools Superintendent Dr. Andrew Melin said, "This is an unfortunate situation for Mr. Milburn, Jeffersonville High School and Greater Clark. I want to assure the students, parents and faculty of Jeffersonville High School that we are dedicated to the school's continued success."

Milburn pleaded not guilty to the shoplifting charge.

He was placed on administrative leave. 

Dr. Melin appointed Assistant Principal Julie Straight to serve as interim principal.
