JCPS announces school closures, no transportation

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Jefferson County Public Schools have announced two schools will be closed on Thursday due to a train derailment that caught fire.

Watson Elementary and Frost Middle Schools will be closed.

JCPS Spokesperson Ben Jackey also said no transportation will be provided to students who live in the "shelter in place" area regardless of where that student attends school.

The decision to not provide transportation was made by JCPS based on advice of the Metro EMA Wednesday evening.
