LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The name of a man who was killed in a crash involving several vehicles has been released.

The crash happened at Bardstown Road and Glenmary Farm Drive, located outside the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265), at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Sam Weakly confirmed William Callahan, 39, was killed in the crash.

According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, Callahan was heading northbound on Bardstown Road when it was hit from behind by a van. Mitchell said the van then crossed into the southbound lane and hit three other vehicles.

Three people from the crash were taken to University Hospital for treatment.

Callahan was pronounced dead at University Hospital. An autopsy for Callahan is scheduled for Saturday. The coroner said his cause of death was likely traumatic injuries sustained.

Mitchell said injuries to the others were not life threatening.
