Hundreds line up for early voting in Hamilton County
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
Hundreds of people lined the streets around the Hamilton County Board of Elections building Sunday- the second to last day of early voting in Ohio.
"It is magnificent. This is history making," said early voter, Muriel Reid.
The line formed from Broadway to Eighth Street and on to Eggleston Ave.
"I'm real shocked," said first time voter Jamey Middleton. "I really thought that it was going to be like, just walk in and walk out but (this is) a line. It's beautiful, I love it."
Several people who came out to cast and early ballot decided to wait until Election Day instead.
"I'm going to go home because it's a long line," said Chad Garrett of Over-the-Rhine. "My wife and I are contemplatingcoming back on Election day because our thought process is, if everybody's here now then on Election Day it should be a little more empty hopefully in the morning."
A few candidates also made an appearance throughout the day.
"This is what America is all about," said Hamilton County Commissioner, Todd Portune. "People are having fun, they're standing in line, we've got choirs in the background. Everybody's talking about what an important day this is to them and how important this election is."
If you live in Hamilton County, you can still vote early Monday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Board of Elections at 824 Broadway. Voting at the board on Tuesday is only for voters who are changing their address. All others must vote in their home precinct on Election Day.
