LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police say the section of Dixie Highway that has been closed since a train derailment one week ago could be open as early as Monday night.
During a Tuesday morning press briefing, LMPD Col. Yvette Gentry said that in a best case scenario Dixie Highway between KY 44 and then Salt River Bridge could be reopened as early as 6 p.m. Monday. However, Gentry say that a more realistic time is by 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Gentry said that water barriers would be installed along Dixie Highway and speed limits reduced to protect crews working along the roadway.
