LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville attorney Teddy Gordon said Wednesday he is ready to file a lawsuit against Jefferson County Public School Board member elect David Jones.
Gordon represents a resident in Jones' District who claimed Jones has three conflicts of interest that prohibit him from being a member of the board. Jones was elected Tuesday to the District 2 position with nearly 50 percent of the vote. District 2 represents the St. Matthews, Crescent Hill and West Buechel areas.
According to the suit, Jones is a major shareholder and board member for Humana, who provides health insurance for JCPS employees. It also claims Jones' company Chrysalis Ventures supports two other companies that provide services for JCPS parents and other JCPS endorsed programs. Gordon said all three are conflicts of interest.
Jones said he has no control of the decisions those companies make in regards to JCPS. He said it's time to focus on the students. "If there is a lawsuit that tries to take the voters choice away from them you can be sure I will show up. I've been sued before, I know how to deal in that world."
