Beam coming to Fourth Street Live!

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Mayor Greg Fischer announced Monday that five dozen new jobs are coming to downtown Louisville.

Beam Inc. will renovate the second floor above Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant which previously housed Borders Bookstore inside the Fourth Street Live! entertianment complex. The facility will house the new Global Business Service Center for the distilled spirits company.

The center will employ 60 people with an estimated combined payroll of $5 million. Employees will handle financial and human resources for North America. It will be the primary point of contact for benefits, compensation, accounts payable and payroll.

Mayor Fischer said the company chose Louisville after a global search. Beam recently completed a visitor center and innovation center in Clermont, KY. Fischer did not indicate how many jobs would be transferred or new positions.

According to the company, construction will begin immanently on the 24,000 square-foot space with an estimated cost of $1.7 million.
