HARRISON COUNTY, IN (WAVE) - Months of undercover investigations came to an end after the arrests of more than a dozen people on drug charges.
The Harrison County Sheriff's department performed a blitz hoping to catch suspects at their homes, still asleep early Thursday morning.
They started before dawn with 24 warrants and arrested 17 suspects before sun up.
Wayne Kessinger with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department said, "It's to our advantage to get everybody when their facilities are not all there, they're kind of groggy and waking up and all that. We have the edge just a little bit on our side."
One of the people arrested was accused of selling drugs near a school.
The warrants were for illegal narcotics and could carry a ten to twenty years sentence if convicted.
