SEYMOUR, IN (WAVE) - Indiana State Police say at least seven people have been hurt after a crash on I-65 north near Seymour.

The crash happened just after 6:30 Saturday night at the 46 mile marker. That's about four miles from Seymour.

At least one helicopter was dispatched to the scene to transport patients to the hospital.

Indiana State Police say the northbound lane of I-65 north was closed for about three hours. Police opened it and cleared the scene around 9:30 pm Saturday.

The southbound lane was also briefly closed to allow aircraft to land.

It's unclear how many people were hurt or the extent of their injuries.

Police say a tire somehow barreled through the median and hit the windshield of a van. The driver of the van then lost control and crashed into a semi.

It isn't clear where the tire came from.

Frances Wilkey, 64, of southwest Indiana was flown University Hospital in Louisville.

The crash remains under investigation, including where the tire came from.
