The Schwarz Family of Louisville provided three of their members to the service of their country during World War II.
Katherine M Schwarz was a teacher at the old Camp Taylor School prior to the start of the War. When fighting broke she resigned her teaching position and joined the WAVES - the US Navy's Womens All Volunteer Emergency Service. Katherine served at the US Navy Hospital in Bethesda, MD as a Hospital Corpman.
Norman Albert Schwarz was a Marine Corp fighter pilot in the Pacific. He was a First Lieutenant. He flew Corsair aircraft.
Melvin R Schwarz is a US Army Air Corp Veteran from WWII.
The family is from the Camp Taylor area of Louisville.
