Evansville's Dream Center had a special guest this evening to talk to kids.

Most people may not know Steve Scheibner, but not having his name in the headlines is why he is here today.

He is a pilot for American Airlines and was scheduled to fly from Boston to Los Angeles on September 11th, 2001.

It just so happened that he was bumped off the flight by pilot Tom McGuiness. Tom took his seat on Flight 11 and never returned home.

Steve is using his experience to talk to kids at the Dream Center about what their purpose is in life and why they are here.

"The message I go around the country sharing is, "What is it like to live on borrowed time?," because I can look and see my smoking hole on national TV, and it changed my life," Scheibner said. "It got a hold of me in a different way and now I live with more of a sense of urgency these days, even though it's been 11 years since 9/11."

If you'd like to hear Steve's full story you can check out his book "In My Seat: A Pilot's Story from September 10th to 11th.
