INDIANAPOLIS – Bellarmine University junior guard Vance Hall has been named the
Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball, it was
announced by the league office on Monday. A transfer from Wright State,
Hall was impressive in his two-game debut as a Knight this past week, averaging
24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.0
assists in a pair of regional wins.
In Bellarmine's 79-65 home win over Wayne State on Thursday, the Frankfort,
Ky., native put up a career-high 25 points while converting 14-of-14 free
throws and hitting 5-of-7 field goals, including his only attempt from beyond
the arc. He keyed a second-half surge that saw the Knights turn a halftime
deficit into a double-digit victory.
Coming back on just one day's rest, Bellarmine faced the well-rested Lakers of
Grand Valley State on Saturday afternoon. Hall once again stepped up for
the Knights in their 64-57 victory, recording a game-high 24 points, five
assists and five rebounds.
On the week, the point guard shot 63.2 percent from the field (12-of-19),
including 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from 3-point range, and was 90.9 percent from
the stripe (20-of-22).
The weekly honor is Hall's first of his career and the first for a Knight since Luke Sprague was recognized during the final week of the 2011-12 season on Feb. 27, 2012.
