LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The miraculous recovery of Penn State cheerleader keeps getting almost harder to believe.

Paige Raque, a Christian Academy graduate, fell 40-feet from an apartment window near the Penn State campus and landed on black top five weeks ago.

The Raque's said doctors told them no one should be able to survive such a fall, but in addition to all the prayer, doctors believe a small ledge could have helped Paige survive.

Her father Tom Raque said, "At about 25-feet down she may have glanced off a ledge and flipped over and fallen the other 15-feet." That ledge from the apartment parking garage, about two feet wide, could have slowed Paige's fall.

She shattered her pelvis and spent days in a coma, but even then, Tom Raque said Paige laughed when he told a joke in her room and, "That's when we knew she knew what was going on around her."

Paige's mother Robyn said her daughter is back, not just speaking, but using her wit and showing more energy ever day.

Now Paige asks for home cooked food, is working on math problems and may start walking within a week.

Just a few days ago, Paige asked when she could go back to college. The Raque's believe an angel carried their daughter down from that apartment window, and now doctors aren't ruling out that she might be able to return to school, as early as next year.
