Emergency crews working at the scene to free the driver from the wreckage.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One person had to be rescued by firefighters after his vehicle went off Interstate 64 Friday morning.
The crash was reported at 5:18 a.m. on eastbound I-64 just east of Cochran Hill tunnels. Emergency personnel found a pickup truck that had gone off the roadway and crashed trapping the driver inside.
Louisville firefighters had to cut the man out of the vehicle. He was taken to University Hospital by Metro EMS for treatment. His condition has not been released.
The crash and the police investigation which followed closed eastbound 64 for over three hours. The roadway was finally reopened at 8:35 a.m.
About 20 minutes after crews arrived to deal with this accident, police had to work with another crash that happened in the westbound lanes of I-64 which closed it for a time. Metro police quickly cleared the second accident and got traffic moving again.
