CLARKSVILLE, IN (WAVE) - Three people landed behind bars after police busted an active meth lab inside a motel room in Clark County on Saturday, November 24.

The incident happened at the Crest Motel on Highway 31 in Clarksville.

Police said an anonymous caller told them on Saturday morning that an unnatural smell was coming from room 232. Officers arrived around 10 a.m. to investigate the claim.

"They noticed an odor and knocked on the door," Detective Darrell Rayborn said. "When (a man) opened the door, (the officers) noticed two other subjects in the room."

"An officer also noticed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia on the table next to the bed," Rayborn said.

Police said they found one of the men hiding in the bathroom, trying to flush a smoking pipe down the toilet. Officers found a one-pot active meth lab in the bathroom.

"It's what we see a lot of, the one-pots," Rayborn said. "It's a quick way of making their meth."

Police said one-pots are quick but hazardous.

"Anytime you have an active meth lab, they have been known to explode," said Rayborn. "They are dangerous."

Indiana State Police and a local fire department went to clean up the meth lab as a precaution to avert that scenario.

Samantha Adams, David Macintosh and Allen Luther face charges that include manufacturing methamphetamine. Police said Macintosh had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court.

All three suspects were expected to appear in court after the holiday weekend.
