New year-round public market set to open in spring 2013 - News, Weather & Sports

Officials break ground on 'Friendly Market' in Florence

Officials broke ground in Florence on Tuesday for the site of a new, year-round farmer's market.

The new public market will be called 'The Friendly Market of Northern Kentucky', similar to Cincinnati's Findlay Market.

Developers of the facility say shoppers will enjoy a dozen indoor merchants selling fresh, local goods, plus outdoor stalls for a seasonal farmer's market.

The future site will be located in Florence, at the 178 exit (Mt. Zion Road), just off I-75.

The Friendly Market is expected to open in the spring of 2013.
