LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – According to ESPN, the University of Louisville has been invited to join the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The invitation was extended after a conference call by the presidents and chancellors of ACC member schools Wednesday morning. According to the Associated Press, the vote by to invite Louisville was unanimous.
Louisville would replace Maryland, who announced last week they would be joining the Big Ten in the 2014-15 school year. The Cardinals become the 14th member of the conference and join current Big East members Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Notre Dame in the ACC.
