LOUISVILLE, K Y (WAVE) – It's not the record-breaking $587.5 million jackpot, but someone who purchased a Powerball ticket in Prospect, Kentucky will be $1 million richer after matching five of the six numbers in Wednesday's historic drawing.
The ticket was sold at Five Star Food Mart #7676 at 10306 US Highway 42 in Prospect.
The winning ticket matched all five of the white balls drawn but not the Powerball. The winning numbers are 5, 16, 22, 23, and 29. (The Powerball number is 6.)
Chip Polston, Vice President of Communications for the Kentucky Lottery, advises the winner to sign the back of the ticket immediately and bring it to lottery headquarters on Main Street in Louisville to claim the prize.
Kentucky Lottery officials said nearly 125,000 winning tickets were sold in Kentucky for Wednesday's drawing with prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million.
Tickets matching all six numbers were sold in Missouri and Arizona. The winners will split a record jackpot of $587.5 million.
