Fatal motor vehicle accident in downtown Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One person is dead after a single vehicle accident in downtown Louisville.

According to MetroSafe, police were called to 1st and Jacob Streets around 6:20 p.m. Thursday on a report a motor vehicle accident.

When officers arrived they found a black Chevy Silverado had run into a tree near the median of the southbound Interstate 65 ramp. Upon initial investigation, it appeared the truck lost control while heading southbound on 1st Street.

The driver of the truck was the only person involved in the accident.

Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Police are asking that for anyone with information or who may have seen the accident to call them at (502) 574 – LMPD.
