About two dozen people attended Saturday's meeting.
JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – The Indiana
Finance Authority held a public meeting on Saturday to gauge reaction to the
company it has selected to oversee construction of the new east end bridge.
About two dozen people attended the
meeting at the Sheraton Louisville Riverside Hotel in Jeffersonville. Some came
to support WVD East End Partners, the company that would be responsible for
financing and construction of the bridge and operating and maintaining the
roads.
The cost to build the east end bridge
and related roads is estimated at $763 million.
Others who showed up voiced their
opposition to tolls which have been proposed to help pay for the bridge.
The selection of WVB still has to
clear several hurdles including formal action by the Finance Authority at its
Monday meeting and at a joint legislative budget committee meeting scheduled
for Tuesday before it goes to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels for his approval.
