HAZARD, KY (WAVE) – Former Kentucky
Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo says he's considering a run for the commonwealth's
top seat.
Mongiardo, a Democrat who served as
lieutenant governor during Gov. Steve Beshear's first term said he is "looking
at running" for governor in three years.
The 52-year-old Hazard physician
served in the Kentucky Senate from 2001 to 2007. He ran for U.S. Senate but
lost the 2004 general election to Republican Jim Bunning and the Democratic
primary in 2010.
Mongiardo said he is interested in
Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes as a possible running mate.
