their residents can rest a little easier now that the person they believe is
responsible for nine burglaries in about a month is behind bars.
Kyron Murphy, 18, was arrested Saturday afternoon
at the Red Carpet Inn on South Hurstbourne Parkway. Chief Rick Sanders said
they had been monitoring the motel, but moved in when Louisville Metro Police
got a tip about someone staying there too.
Sanders said Murphy first broke into a home on Pirogue
Road back in October. After that, they took reports of nearly one a week in the
month of November, four last week alone. Chief Rick Sanders said all were
within a five mile radius of Murphy's home.
He credits help from observant neighbors who called in
the suspicious activity. "We had some great information we'd received from
the community on the description of the suspect and also the suspect vehicle.
We knew pretty much what we were looking for we just didn't know who we were
looking for," said Jeffersontown Chief Rick Sanders.
A car matching the description was found at the Red
Carpet Inn along with rings, bracelets, Televisions and even the pry bar police
said Murphy used to break into the homes were recovered.
