HARRISON COUNTY, IN (WAVE) – A
pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed Tuesday morning in New Salisbury,
IN, according to the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.
The accident happened just after 7
a.m. about 600 feet east of the intersection
with Old State Road 64.
Investigators said the victim, a man dressed
in dark clothing, was trying to cross the road when he was hit just before
dawn.
A witness told deputies the victim
lived near the accident scene and frequently walked along that stretch of road,
often wearing dark clothing.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the
man said he didn't see the pedestrian before the crash and that he first thought
he had hit a deer.
Traffic was closed for a couple of
hours while authorities investigated and the scene was cleared.
