BUCKNER, KY (WAVE) – The driver of a car had to be cut from it after a crash that left the vehicle wedged under a semi.
The crash was reported to Oldham County authorities at 6:18 a.m. Thursday in the 4100 block of KY 146. According to Officer Mike Head, a public information officer of the Oldham County Police Department, the semi was coming out of a lumber yard which sits just over the railroad tracks on KY 146 when the car somehow ran under the vehicle.
Firefighters from several departments worked to free the victim, the woman driving the car, from the wreckage. The woman was airlifted to University Hospital for treatment.
WAVE 3 has learned the driver of the car is an employee of the Oldham County Schools. Anne Coorssen, general counsel for the school system, said the woman is a bus monitor for the transportation department and has held various positions with the district over the past 20 years.
KY 146 was closed between Old LaGrange Road and KY 393 while the accident scene was investigated. The road reopened to traffic around 9 a.m.
