LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One person has died after a two vehicle crash Thursday morning in Pleasure Ridge Park. According to MetroSafe, the accident happened at 5:44 a.m. on the Greenbelt Highway at Riverport Drive.
Dwight Mitchell, a Louisville Metro Police spokesperson, said a white Ford panel van that was heading north tried to make a left turn onto Riverport Drive when it collided with a maroon Chevy sedan heading south.
Two women in the sedan were taken to University Hospital where one of them later died. Mitchell said the other woman was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the panel van was not hurt.
The LMPD traffic unit is investigating the crash. According to Mitchell, there were no obvious sign of alcohol involvement, but it appears the panel van failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
