BATTLETOWN, KY (WAVE) – A heated family dispute led two men to shoot each other Wednesday night in Meade County, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators said a boyfriend and girlfriend who share a child got into an argument at a home in the 7100 block of Battletown Road near Battletown, KY just before 7 p.m. Wednesday. The boyfriend went across the street to his girlfriend's parents' house to pick up the child and got into an argument with the child's maternal grandmother, police said.

The child's maternal grandfather, John L. Kenley, 64, came outside with a gun and fired a shot into the air, according to KSP. Then a relative, James R. Kenley, 50, got into an argument with John Kenley. Investigators said the Kenleys shot each other multiple times.

Both men were rushed by helicopter to University of Louisville Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.

KSP said the case would be presented to the Meade County Commonwealth's Attorney once the investigation is complete.
