JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – A man found stabbed to death on Monday at his Jeffersonville home was murdered over drugs and $40,000 cash, according to court documents.

James Washington and Dana Eisenback appeared in court on Thursday where lawyers entered not guilty pleas on their behalf.

Court documents state that Washington and Eisenback went to Bob Eader's apartment to get $40,000 he owed them for drugs.

Police said Eisenback stayed in the car while Washington and Eader smoked crack in the apartment.

Washington admitted to police that when he tried to grab the cash a fight ensued and he stabbed Eader in the chest and throat.

Officers believe that after the murder, the suspects drove to Missouri where Eisenback has family. They later returned to Jeffersonville to turn themselves in.

Washington is charged with murder, robbery, dealing and conspiracy to deal cocaine.

Eisenback also faces cocaine charges as well as assisting a criminal.

Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad has asked his men and women to wear mourning bands for a former officer shot in the line of duty.  It was more than four decades ago when Detective Bobby Branham was critically wounded.  His widow, Mary Carroll Burnett tells us, her husband had a lot of scar tissue from multiple surgeries after the 1972 shooting and those complications led to his death May 14.
