Murder suspect takes plea deal

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A murder case came to a surprising close Friday morning.

Marcus Crook's murder trial ended with a mistrial declared last week. Attorneys in the case were supposed to meet on Friday to discuss a new trial. Instead, Crook accepted a plea deal.

Crook pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter.

Investigators said Crook shot and killed Joseph McNealy right after Thanksgiving 2009 in the 500 block of South 19th Street at Stone Alley. Crook was 18 at the time.

As part of the plea deal Crook was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
