Name of victim from deadly fire released

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The coroner has released the name of the victim from a deadly fire in the Portland neighborhood.

The victim is 62-year-old Harvey Alvey. The fire was reported shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday at 22nd and Duncan Streets. Firefighters found heavy flames and heavy smoke when they arrived on the scene.

Alvey was taken to University of Louisville Hospital and died a short time later. The coroner says they are waiting on final autopsy but, Alvey likely died from smoke inhalation. No one else was hurt.

Louisville Metro Arson and Louisville Metro Police are investigating since a death was involved.

There was no immediate word on the fire's cause.
