Man wounded in shooting seeks help at convenience store

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man is being treated after showing up at a convenience store with a gunshot wound.

According to MetroSafe, Louisville Metro Police were sent to the Thornton's at 7th Street Road and Algonquin Parkway at 11:30 a.m. after the man walked into the store wounded.

Alicia Smiley, a LMPD spokesperson, said the victim had been involved in an altercation with another person in the rear of the 2200 block of Tennessee Avenue when the shooting happened.

Officers found at least one shell casing in that area.

Smiley said the victim was shot twice, once in the upper part of his body and once in the lower part. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment. The wounds are considered non-life threatening.

Police are still seeking the person wanted for the shooting. The case is being handled by LMPD Second Division detectives. Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD Crime Tip Line at 574-LMPD (5673).
