LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Time is running out to ship your holiday packages in time for a pre-Christmas arrival.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Postal Service said Monday, December 17 will be the USPS's busiest day for handling holiday cards and packages with more than 655 million pieces of mail expected to be processed. The busiest delivery day for letters will be Wednesday, December 19. The busiest day for package delivery will be Thursday, December 20.
Mailing early is key to beating the rush. Customers should abide by the following mail-by deadlines:
December 14: Parcel Post
December 17: Global Express Guaranteed
December 20: First-Class Mail
December 21: Priority Mail
December 22: Express Mail
Thursday, December 20 is the cut-off for UPS. According to the company's website, UPS Next Day Air packages picked on the 20th will arrive on Friday, December 21. UPS 2nd Day Air packages picked up on the 20th will arrive on Christmas Eve.
