Man accused of scamming tornado victims appears in court

HENRYVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A man accused of taking advantage of tornado victims appeared in court.

According to victims, Karl Wray offered to help rebuild homes that were destroyed during an outbreak of tornadoes on March 2, but instead he ran off with the victim's cash.

Wray appeared in court Friday. During his appearance attorneys pushed to keep him in jail.

Wray said his wife is disabled and he needs to have a lower bond.

His trial is expected to start in May.
