Parents taking their children into Okolona Elementary School on Dec. 17.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Three days after the tragic Connecticut elementary school massacre, parents that have students at Okolona Elementary said their nerves were high and they were a little anxious for their children going into the school.
"I just pray that everything will be ok and have faith in the teachers and staff here," said Tiffany Davis.
Clayton Oaks almost kept his child at home.
"I was nervous and I was thinking I was going to hold him back one day," said Oaks, "but if it's going to happen today, it could happen tomorrow, it could happen any day."
Parents said that at some point you have to just hope things go ok but they said they find comfort in the school having to "buzz" someone in and find comfort in the camera next to the front door. Scott Mikesell said he's just glad his son is alive.
"It hurt my heart," said Mikesell, "I had tears in my eyes. I just think about it every day. I couldn't, I would be out of control being without my boy."
