LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One person is being treated at University Hospital after a shooting in the Shawnee neighborhood Monday afternoon.
According to Louisville Metro Police, the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Shawnee Drive. Police said a blue car was going south on Shawnee Drive and some sort of altercation took place inside the car. One person was shot inside the car, then the car hit a utility pole and came to a stop in front of a home.
The victim is in his early 30's and was rushed over to University Hospital with life threatening injuries. Louisville Metro Homicide is investigating the case.
At this time no suspects are in custody. Police spent the afternoon canvassing the scene and talking to witnesses.
Craig Dyer with Aspen Contracting rushed over to the scene Monday afternoon after hearing one of his employees who was working on a home nearby witnessed the incident. Dyer said his employee saw the victim who was shot in the car and two passengers. He said his employee initially thought it was just a car accident and rushed over to help and quickly realized that it was a shooting. His employee went to a nearby home for safety.
