LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The countdown is on to get Christmas cards and packages delivered on time.
If you dropped by the post office Monday then you probably noticed first hand, it is the busiest mailing day of the year, and this year will be a record breaker with USPS handling around 365 million packages this holiday season.
Due to online shopping, the amount of packages handled is up 20 percent from 2011.
If you want to mail an item, but do not want to wait in line Alisa Zanetti, with the US Post Office explained, there are ways to help yourself, "You don't have to be at the post office when we're open to mail a package. Many of our offices including Jeffersonville and New Albany have automated kiosk centers that are right here available to mail your package and you can buy stamps!"
Deadlines to get your mail delivered by Christmas are December 20 for first class mail, December 21 for priority mail and December 22 for express mail.
