Police: Man dies after fleeing, diving into creek

SEYMOUR, IN (WAVE) – A police chase ended when a man dove into a creek.

According to Seymour police, on Sunday night an officer tried to pull over a Jeep Cherokee when the driver sped off and eventually hit an embankment.

Police said Nathaniel Phillips, 25, hopped out of the car, ran and then dove into a creek.

Phillips disappeared into the water, but was pulled out around 30 minutes later.

He died at the hospital a short time later.

Phillips was wanted on four warrants, including trafficking and drug charges.
